Little Legacy: Chapter 1.10

Chapter 1.10: Fickle Hearts

It was only appropiate that on this exciting day that Charley would attempt her first surgery. She may have accidently removed her patient's heart, but it gave her a moment to admire the organ that keeps you alive and moving. But also shoulder's the weight of your feelings and worries. Despite it all, it was a single organ that can easily be removed with the right tools. Speaking of which, better put that back.
The heart is amazing and yet so fragile, as a doctor, she was well aware of the numerous ways that your heart could kill you. But she can confirm that she's never seen anyone die of a broken heart.

Work ended without any other notable incidents. And Charley was promoted to General Practitioner, one step closer to her dream. And on the way home, she couldn't seem to calm her ever beating heart, anixous for that evening's activities. This is probably one of her first dates since... ugh, high school. And she couldn't even use that as a reference since they sat awkwardly next to each other in a crowded theater, both too nervous to do anything more.

No, no. Today is different. They're both adults, instilled with more confidence. Though at that moment her heart seemed to drop into the pit of her stomach. What if he didn't like her. What if she didn't like him? What if they weren't compatible? Series of questions became flooding into her head as she fought to find reason in them. It's fine. It's fine. Everything will work out just fine.

A little before 7, Charley aimed to cleanse her mind of worry by finishing up a painting she started a few days back. See it turn out as well as it did, instill her with all the confidence she needed.

Minato Hashimoto finally qualified for a top tier makeover. No more mismatching and nothing but clean cut Minato.
Charley's heart skipped a beat when she saw how well he cleaned up. They had to commemorate with a photo. It was good enough to go up onto simstagram, #firstdatevibes.
"Wow, you look amazing. I didn't realize how handsome you were underneath your awful fashion sense." Charley joked. She noticed he was feeling a little blue. There was a slight sadness in his eyes that he was trying to dismiss.
"Well, I may be able to clean up well, but I'll never look as great as you do." He said with a slight smile.

Charley's cheeks flushed warmly, her heart singing with joy. This was probably the most excited she's been for the future. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a rose.
"Well I know it's only our first date and guys usually do this sort of thing, but I wanted to get you something to let you know that I've been thinking about you all day." Charley went on getting a little more embarassed as she went on. "But I know that we've been friends long enough to know that we connect in more than one way. Your the blood that gets my heart pumping."
She was barely making eye contact at that moment because she was a little embarassed about all the gushy things that she was saying.
She did feel Minato pressing his hand against her own. "I'm not worthy of a rose of such beauty. Please keep it. You deserve it more than a fool like me?"

"A fool?" She asked turning her gaze back to him just in time to see him covering a yawn.
Here she was pouring out her heart, and all he could do was return her rose?
"I thought we had a connection? I mean you said so yourself, when you called me yesterday. Or did I uh.. misunderstand you?" Charley was feeling a little awkward now. Her heart panged in her chest, secretly wishing he was just tugging her leg.

"Well... I didn't lie yesterday. I really do like you and I wanted to take you on a date. But... I was on cloud nine yesterday that I headed out Lucky Palms to test my luck. And well in the process... I found Lady Luck. I'm not going to say I got so juiced that we got married last night... but well."
"Oh god..." Charley had to duck away in shame. What are the odds? Lady Luck may be on his side, but she has long abandoned Charley. Here she was trying to put the moves on Minato and he's been married for less than 24 hours and she didn't even bother to check?
To be fair when someone asks you out on a date, you'd automatically assume they weren't married either.
"Here's the thing. I know it may seem like it's rushed and I still could anull the marriage. But when you know... you know. It's something I felt deep down in my heart, and well... I was smitten. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner." Minato added knowing this wasn't exactly ideal.

"Well, I guess it's safe to say that we probably should just be friends?" Charley offered. Despite everything he still was her friend. This was just some uncharted territory that didn't pan out as she planned. "Well come on, you never told me who Lady Luck is."
Minato got a goofy smile on his face as he melted at the though. "Her name is Eva, and she is the greatest woman I've ever met."
Her heart was aching for what could've been, but this was something she built up in her mind without knowing where he stood on the matter. So perhaps it was only best to call it here. She needed some best friend time.
"Well I hope you won't be mad, but I think we should end this date early." Charley offered a tad awkwardly. Was this still a date, knowing what she knew now?
"Sure I understand. And I also understand if you need some space.

As she was leaving the Rattlesnake, she was updating her simstagram to #justfriends and rapidly dialing Penny to meet her at The Solar Flare down the street.
Penny understand the urgency in her voice, and quickly arranged for the neighbor to watch Colton and rushed right over.
Charley couldn't help but launch into a full explaination of what happened that evening. Penny was just as shocked as she was, trying to process the info. But what can you do. Sometimes you just fall head over heels for someone you just met...
What else can you do except... Drink.

A few beverages later, Charley was feeling happy and very juiced. Penny on the other hand, wasn't feeling too well, so Charley went ahead and doubled up on Penny's drinks for her.
Meanwhile, in the background Francine Spencer is about to die. But Charley was too juiced to even notice. Penny suggested she probably should go ahead and head home.
Charley agreed and went to flag down a cab. But somehow she didn't end up going home alone...
The heart aches for what it lacks aparently.

Reasons I should've know this wouldn't have worked out:

(But I really wanted to date a non townie so he was my first choice. MCCC threw a wrench in my plans since they weren't technically dating, but perhaps if he was at least willing to accept her advances, we still might've pursued him, but he's a decent guy who is committed to his wife. T.T He would've been perfect. Gonna go cry in a corner for a minute)

  1. Aww. I liked Minato Hashimoto, too. MCCC can be unpredictable sometimes.

    1. I'm also slightly mad that I didn't catch it when I was updating his wardrobe, but I guess I was still assuming his relationship status wouldn't change from the previous day at the con.
But I'll give him props for staying true to Eva, even if they were only married for like 18 hours. But who knows maybe we might see some little Hashimoto's in the future.

  2. I'm remembering the time I took longer than a day to woo a Sim. And I flagged him for "no romance" and "no marriage" too. What I didn't realize is there is a separate flag for "no offspring". Ops!
(They ended up adopting the little tyke away from Billie Jang).

    1. That's good. I looked at Minato not too long after he got married and apparently he's got two bastards kids as well. MCCC has affairs set to 2%, but it doesn't count for one night stands when single, I guess.
