Chapter 1.5: Karaoke Legend...?
Work went smoothly nabbing herself that promotion to Assistant Nurse. All and all, things are going pretty smoothing at work, she didn't know why she was so so worried in the first place. It's pretty obvious that you can become a doctor even without a degree.
Her promotion called for a celebration, and to top it off, it was Thursday night. So karaoke contest anyone?
Charley called up Penny, Minato, and Akira. Penny who was bursting at her coat buttons looked like the baby could come any minute now. Maybe it was the pregnancy glow around Penny or her own romantic nature, possibly both. But Charley was feeling a little flirty.
Charley started the night with a duet with Minato. When their shoulder's briefly touched, she felt her skin flush. When she looked back over her shoulder, he was looking directly at her. What could that mean? If it even meant anything?
And then her duet with Akira turned into some sensual eye contact. Something about karaoke tonight was making her knees weak. But they were two different people. She couldn't date both of them. And what if it was all in her head.
Calm down Charley! Nothing has happened. It was just a couple, songs, sure they were a little romantic, but that didn't mean anything. It was just a song. Friends can sing love songs together, right?
Meanwhile Siobhan Romeo was comparing baby bumps with Penny.
When it was finally Charley's turn to sing for the contest, she picked a softer song that paired well with her vocals. But unfortunately it was too soft and it ended up putting both Penny and Akira to sleep. Oops.
Charley wasn't sure when Minato even performed for the contest, She only saw him watching Moe Endo in between their duet and the end of the night. But turns out he won first place. So while she was sad she didn't win, she was happy that her friend got to enjoy the spoils of success.
She may not have won the contest, but her dating life might be sparking to life and her career is moving forward with ease.
