Chapter 1.16: In a Legacy
After a rough day yesterday, Charley decided she wanted to use one of her vacation days to get off her feet before this pregnancy caused her to drop of exhaustion again.
Akira let her sleep him as he slipped out to go to work, leaving her alone and with her thoughts.
Charley tried relaxing and painting some pictures, but she found herself thinking about the whole magic thing and this... legacy.
She pulled out the Glimmerstone from her pocket. Staring down at it and sliding it through her fingers. How did this thing even work... She wondered as she looked deep inside of herself, closing her eyes she focused on the stone to gain knowledge of it's secrets.
When she opened her eyes, she was no longer at home. Instead she found herself on a strange island, that appeared to be floating? What was this place?
Welcome to the Magic Realm. A familiar voice pierced her thoughts. I knew you'd seek me out soon enough.
Charley found herself almost following the voice in her mind until she came across a library where L. was waiting for her.

"So you finally have come to seek the knowledge that I have to offer..." L. reached out and pressed her hand to her shoulder. "And I see you've already started your legacy...:
"You keep mentioning this legacy, but you have yet to explain what exactly it means." Charley replied as she pressed a hand to her expanding belly.
"It means that your name will live on for many generations. And each generation will expand on the family name, leaving their own mark. But all will remember that they descended from you."

"That sounds like a lot of pressure. I don't think I can handle all this." Charley replied nervously.
"You don't have to do anything except keep doing what you've been doing. After all, it's already begun with the conception of that little one." L. pointed out. "You've already started your story, and someday, that story will carry on until it's your children's turn."
Charley still looked a little pensive.
"Listen, there are many stories out there just like yours. If it worries you so much, check out some of the documented legacies we have scattered throughout the library. You're bound to find one or two that resonate with you."
Charley nodded. "I suppose your right."

"Now how about we work on expanding your powers. It could be dangerous for you and your family if you don't understand it correctly." L. suggested as she whipped out her wand.
Charley agreed, the last thing she needed was to accidently hurt Akira or her children because she didn't understand. Plus, she needed to understand her own powers if any of her children were to inherit her magic.
So the two spent the next few hours educating Charley on the tips and tricks to honing her magic.

By the end of their session, Charley was sore and exhausted. She didn't realize how much using magic took a toll on her physcially and mentally. But then again, doing all this while pregnant wasn't exactly ideal either.
Charley thanked L. for her time. Thinking it was time to return home and start dinner, Charley turned to head back towards the portal, when she remembered that there was literature on former legacies. So curiousity overcame her and she started searching the bookshelves for some tomes that met her needs, and sat down to start reading.

When all was said and done, Charley was feeling a little better about this whole legacy thing. And she felt that she herself was already on the right track.
Returning home, she was greeted lovingly by her husband.
