Little Legacy: Chapter 1.26

  Chapter 1.26: New Year's Celebrations

Knowing his parents went out last night, Archer expected that they'd be sleeping in a little later. So he kept himself busy outside playing a little ball. He might not have access to a playground at home to play on, but he still wanted to work on honing his skills.

Last night's meal wasn't sitting well with Charley that morning. She woke up feeling a little queasy and her stomach was royally upset. Guess raw tuna didn't sit too well with her, can't say she'll be lining up for experimental foods any time soon. Luckily it was the weekend and none of them had anywhere to be.

Daddy Akira took it upon himself to give Amber one last bath of the year before they dropped her off at Daycare.

After taking some medicine to settle her stomach, Charley called up her old friends. Seeing that it's been a while since the lot of them have gotten together. And since it was New Year's Eve, what better way to bring in the new year than with friends. So Charley called up the Richards clan and invited Penny, Gavin, Colton, and Dwayne out to Oasis Springs. Though it's safe to say the younger ones were left in capable hands.
"I'm so envious of you, Penny." Charley couldn't help but admire Penny. "You have 3 kids and still maintain your figure. I have 2 and I'm swelling like a balloon."
"Well... You know me... I'm super mom after all."
Charley rolled her eyes. "How's your little girl?"
"Karen's great. She's happy and healthy. Resting at home. My boys on the other hand are growing up too quickly. Soon they'll be bringing girls home, and you know what... I'm just not ready for that."

While the ladies had a little chat over their children, the men were busy challenging each other's wits. Enjoying as much peace and quiet as they could. It was already hard enough living in tight spaces with your spouse. Try adding multiple children on top of that. No, the men were just fine sitting in silence.

Archer busied himself on the space explorer, chasing aliens with both Colton and Dwayne. Colton was their pilot while Dwayne and Archer searched for lifeform outside the ship.
After only a little while on the playground, Archer skipped from step one of his aspiration all the way to the last step, guess his typing practice counted for something.

So he decided to put his skills to the test and try out the monkey bars.

Hopefully no one was looking...

No, Charley didn't complete her resolution already, instead she realized why she wasn't feeling too hot this morning.

Charley trekked across the park to where Akira was busy collecting frogs and metals.
"Hey babe... uh... guess what... Your wish is coming true..."
"We're getting a bigger house?"
Charley chuckled, "Uh how about a bigger household..."
"What? You're pregnant, but we weren't..."
"I know, but I think you wanted it enough that it happened."
"Well that is great news." Akira smiled as he pulled her into a tight hug.
"I figured we got enough in savings that we could put a down payment on some land and we can start looking at some house plans." Charley suggested, if they wanted to build they wouldn't be able to move in right away they'd have to give them some time to get things prepared. Not to mention they would need to buy all new furniture.
"I would love nothing more." He whispered, pressing a loving kiss to her cheek.

After an eventful afternoon, the family decided it was time to head home, so they picked up a projector and some couches and invited the Richards and Minato (they still haven't met this Eva person that Minato married) over to watch the countdown.
Charley also invested in a new wardrobe. They were getting older and being the mother of 3, meant you probably shouldn't dress like you did in your early 20's.

They gathered round the TV, discussing their New Year's resolutions. Charley and Akira both were close to promotions and wanted to move up in their careers. Archer being mostly done with his aspiration wanted to complete an aspiration.
Charley reflected on the past year, knowing she wouldn't change a thing. She was surrounded by friends and family. She learned she had a dormant magical bloodline. She's nearly reached the top of her career. And she found the love of her life, who has given her two beautiful children and one more along the way. And now they were making plans to build their forever home.
Hopefully next year had just as much to offer.
"10, 9, 8, 7..." The chanting began. The boys excitedly staying up way past their bedtime.

"6, 5, 4..."

"3, 2, 1..."

"Happy New Year!"
