Chapter 1.23: Birthday Celebrations - Akira
After celebrating Amber's birthday, there was still one more birthday celebration that awaited the Little Family. So Charley's father made a trip out to Del Sol so he could spend some time with his grandkids, while Charley took Akira out for a little birthday celebration.
Once the kids where settled in with Grandpa, Charley called up their friends and invited them out to the karaoke bar they spent most of their early days at. Penny arrived and she was nearly about to burst once again. Baby number 3 was going to show up any day now.
Charley used her extended medical knowledge and was able to determine the baby's gender.
"Good news, my dear friend. Congratulations, it's not a boy!"
The relief on Penny's face was evident. "Oh man, I was praying that
Fortunately, it was also karaoke night, so Akira set his sights on possibly taking home the gold.
Charley didn't care about winning or losing anymore. She was just happy that she could spend time with her friends. Not to mention, she knew her husband had a much better singing voice than she did. So she was low-key cheering him on to take the win.
In the end, neither of them were good enough to take home the win. But before heading home, they did one quick duet of their engagment song, "Don't Go Breaking My Heart".
It was a fun evening full of laughter and love.
Unfortunately, it was drawing to a close. And being responsible parents, meant they couldn't stay out too late, since they had to wake up early to drop the kids off at daycare. And with that the flashes of their younger days were nothing but a fleeting memory.
Just because they're getting older didn't mean that Charley couldn't enjoy a good late night snack.
Akira had to face the reality and he blow out his candles. They may no longer be young and living fun and adventurous lifestyles, but there was still so much more to look forwards to with kids and a family to grow and raise.
